UNDER 12 MATCH REPORT ROUND 2 2011

Our first home game for the season had us up against Croydon’s White team who could only manage the bare 18 players. Unfortunately after having a player withdraw after last week’s loss we only had 13 players on our list but fortunately Max from the Under 10’s and his brother Charlie bolstered us.

The first quarter was a great tussle and our boys showed tenacity and some good passages of play to move the ball forward. Croydon could only manage the single goal and we had high hopes of going into the rooms at half time with a lead on the board. Croydon started a fluent running game and were linking up well whereas we always seemed to be one or two steps behind and so were outscored four goals and we still hadn’t registered a score. After 3 quarters we still hadn’t scored so the emphasis was to keep working hard for each other and get a score on the board. This happened in the first minute or two of the last when Sanden took a great mark at Centre Half forward and kicked truly from about 30 meters out.

Well we have lost our first two matches on the scoreboard but when we are down in numbers and are battling each quarter out in my eyes these boys are the true winners. Let us hit the track hard this week and be prepared to tackle Coldstream next week.

Round 2 v Glen Waverley Hawks

Q1: Our build up to this game was to play for the full 4 quarters and after the first 5 minutes of the game I was a little concerned. We were second to the ball early but we soon turned it around and got on top in that area of the game and started to run kicking 6 goals to no score.

Bayswater 6.3.21 - Glen Waverley Hawks 0.0

Q2: We started the second quarter in a positive manner and our running game and team work was as good as it has been. I could not have been happier with the way we worked for each other to block, tackle and run in numbers. We added another 4 goals.

Bayswater 10.4.64 - Glen Waverley Hawks 0.0

Q3: At half time the message was not to be complacent and selfish and to stick to our game plan and the scoreboard would look after itself. Glen Waverley came out a lot harder after the break and we had to work hard to stay on top. Kicking 2 goals to their 1 point.

Bayswater 12.7.79 - Glen Waverley Hawks 0.1.1

Q4: We got on top all over the ground and our backline ran hard and looked to switch play to keep the ball moving freely. It was a great to see us run the game out strongly and play some good attacking footy kicking 6 goals.

Bayswater 18.11.119 defeated Glen Waverley Hawks 1.1.7
