PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE......

With only fourteen weeks in the season and seven teams entered my aim for the year was to get as many players and families to the club and enjoy the family atmosphere, help our coaches to build on the skills of our players and hopefully have some representation in finals – in the end I think we achieved this as a club in season 2010.

With an April 4th start to the season there was much preparation before hand by the committee to get teams set up for the season, Knox Council were working feverously to get our new extensions completed on time for the first round and allow us to use our new canteen facilities, and players were training in earnest for the first game.

With our U9 team struggling at the start for players Scott our coach of this team and Bernie Lennox both worked hard to attract players and to finish with 15 players from a start of seven was fantastic – I really enjoyed watching the U9’s run around early on a Sunday chasing the footy in earnest, these guys are the future of the club and a great bunch of parents are involved at this level.

I made an effort to get to all teams games throughout the season be they at home or away and I must congratulate all teams this year, each week ladder position was not a concern and your effort to try and get a win was fantastic. To our three coaches who managed to get their teams involved in finals I know the hard work you put in training them for the season paid off with the enjoyment you all got participating in finals – well done.

To our U16 team who leave us – congratulations on winning your grand final, a fitting reward for all the hard work you’ve put in over eight years at the club. I know you will all look back on this season as one of triumph and I hope you all realise the ability you have and continue to play football as you progress through life.

In the six years I’ve been involved with the Bayswater Junior football club I always believed we have a fantastic group of parents and players who love to wear the green & gold jumper and represent us on a Sunday. Many parents who get involved with their children’s sporting groups do so because it gives them satisfaction to see kids playing sport and don’t need any accolades but I’d like to thank all committee members, coaches, team managers, players, canteen helpers, and all the parents who got involved with the club this year to help out and get the kids playing a game of footy each weekend.

Congratulations to Greg Andrews and Martin Leacy on being awarded Life Membership of the junior club at this year’s dinner dance, a well deserved recognition of your commitment to the club and some of the fantastic initiatives you both implemented over the 8 years your sons were involved at the club.

In my first year as President of the club I have had a great deal of help and support from my wife Helen and my fellow Executive Committee in Greg Howden & Rob Rapisarda as well as all committee members that has really made it a pleasure to be involved with the club – thanks to all and I look forward to even better results for the club next season.
