Round 3 - Season 2010

UNDER 10 MATCH REPORT

We played a combined Knox/Lysterfield side at their home ground.

Knox/Lysterfield had won their first two games as had we so it was a good test to see were we were at for the season.

Being Anzac Day we talked about the people that gave there lives so we could be a free country to enjoy the things we like to do, then the last post was played and a minutes silence.

Right from the start the players were running, tackleing and passing the ball around helping to set up goals, the pressure the players put on all game was unbelievable and we ran away with a fantastic win.

WELL DONE GUYS

UNDER 11 MATCH REPORT

Under 11s ventured to Boronia on Sunday to take on Boronia who were sitting 1 and 1

We knew we were in for a tough match due to Boronia being a hard side and the fact that both Mick and myself thought the young fellas were getting a little ahead of themselves.

Young Ben White was captain for the day and again we won the toss and kicked with the wind and although the boys were playing well we could not put the score on the board, however we went in at ¼ time about 9 points up.

The second ¼ was a very torrid affair with Boronia playing good football and our boys going kick chasing and although the scoreboard did not reflect it, Boronia out played us in the second quarter.

I must add that it was great to have Taylor back with the under 11s so we now have a bench of 2, which is a long way from our team of 14 last season.

The 3rd quarter was another hard slog and although we won the quarter you could sense it was game on and Boronia had the so called wind in the last quarter.

The boys proved both Mick and myself wrong as they played a great last quarter and credit must be given to certain players who had had a quiet day but stood up when we needed them and to run out 22 point winners was very satisfying especially to the boys.

Best players,

Ben, Jake, Finn, Kane, Jesse and Sandon

Bayswater v Kilsyth / Nth Ringwood

After last week’s missed opportunities in front of goals we focused all week at training on hitting our leading forward’s. We also worked on keeping our forward line open and not congested.

This worked beautifully against Kilsyth / Nth Ringwood with the on ballers winning the centre bounces and delivering the ball to our leading forwards where they managed to kick 7 goals 6 points for the quarter to Kilsyth / Nth Ringwood’s 1 goal.

The Second quarter was again dominated by the boys with 3 goals 5 points to Kilsyth / Nth Ringwood’s  zero.

I told the boys at half time that we still needed to stick to the game plan and keep our forward line open, and to use our forwards when in better positions.

The boys did exactly that in the Third quarter, with un-selfish ball movement to players in better positions in front of goal. This showed on the scoreboard with Baysie kicking another 8 goals 4 points to Kilsyth / Nth Ringwood’s 1 goal 1 point.

The Fourth quarter was again all Baysie with another 4 goals 3 points to Kilsyth / Nth Ringwood’s 1 point. Due to their TEAM EFFORT we ended up with 13 goal scorers.

Final Score

Bayswater 22-19-151 def Kilsyth / Nth Ringwood 2-2-14

U15 MATCH REPORT

Boronia V Bayswater, Anzac day

We started the day with 3 players unavailable which put us behind the eight ball and again the opposition got away to a lead. Determination from all the team members kept us within a few points at half time and if we could get a couple early on the board in the third quarter we were in with a show.
Boronia jumped out of the blocks in the third quarter and put on a few goals that started to put the margin out of reach. Riley and Jake Westwood we putting their head over the ball and trying to get the ball forward so we could score.  Adam, Pete and Josh Guy were busting a gut to get hold of the ball and drive us forward but in the end the lead was too great  and they put on some more goals during that last quarter to increase their lead.
When we moved the ball to leading players and we were in front of our opponents we looked good but we need to do this all the way through the game not just in patches.
Boronia 15.18.108 def Bayswater 4.8.32
Goals : Adam 2 , Braden 1 , Adam Gleeson 1

UNDER 16 MATCH REPORT

Bayswater V Croydon

Today we hosted Croydon on a beautiful Anzac Day. The boys were fairly pumped for their first game on home soil and this showed by them slamming on 4 goals in the first 5 minutes and 13 seconds (thanks Simon!). Croydon gained back a little momentum and stopped the onslaught a bit and at the 1st change we led 6.2.38 to 3 points.

The second quarter had us on fire again with our midfield applying tremendous pressure and we won nearly every clearance from the centre bounces and the stoppages around the ground.  Going into half time we had a comfortable 10 goal lead.

The third quarter was full of hard running by all the Bayswater brigade and we kicked another 3 to their 1. There were some great passages of play and the boys were linking up well together and the 1 percent efforts were mounting. A few changes were made in the last and Croydon kicked a couple of late goals but all in all this was a very pleasing win that sees us 3 and nil so our season is well under way.

We need to keep training hard and playing harder so we can Finish Business!!!
