BAYSWATER V MOOROOLBARK

We took the field with only sixteen players this week so we knew we would be under the pump against Mooroolbark who beat us last time by 20 goals.

The team played spirited football attacking the footy in the slippery conditions and at all opportunities driving the ball forward while our backline fought hard for the ball and defended the goals really well. At Quarter time we were only 1 goal down against quality opposition and that endeavour continued throughout the day.  Strong running and attack on the ball was the best way forward and with Pete Wall, Jackson Zaloumis , Adam Miles, and Josh Guy getting plenty of it kept us well in the game. The second half we started 3 goals down but with Beau Barkway , Sam Drummond, Josh Kazar and the ever dependable Braden Marshall we kept within striking distance and our backline held steady and rushed through behinds denying the opposition scoring opportunities. In the last quarter that fact that we only had 16 took its toll and we were starting to run out of legs, Mooroolbark started to score more freely and they ran over us in the final quarter.

Well done guys it was a hard slog but you kept up with them and played really well.
